Vacancy: Research assistants
The GEDB programme is currently looking for 1-2 research assistants with a Bachelor’s, or Master’s Degree to help us advance a range of new research initiatives. A background in sustainability science with a demonstrated interest in resource economics, financial markets, value chain dynamics, or marine fisheries (or any combination of these) is preferable but not an absolute necessity.
The work will be distributed across several projects with slightly different focus so applicants should be prepared to combine multiple tasks of possibly varying nature. Broadly, we are looking for one candidate with more quantitative skills and one with more qualitative skills, although proficiency in both is naturally a bonus. Examples of quantitative skills include statistical analysis and database management. Examples of qualitative skills include qualitative coding of interviews and archival material, familiarity with qualitative software, literature search and review.
We expect you to write, and speak fluently in English and to be able to provide a sample of your research related work to date, upon request.
Tasks: The assistants will work closely with our team of interdisciplinary researchers to compile literature (scientific and “grey” literature), identify, amass, and to some degree analyse relevant data and summarize important work related to the specific topic in focus. The assistants may also be required to help organize, and participate in, international workshops.
Duration: 100% for 6 months (with possible extension), starting from May 1st 2017
Salary: According to agreement.
Application: Last application date: 2017-03-25
Position starts May 1st 2017. Applications, including CV, a description of your relevant skills and experience, and the contact details to at least two references should be e-mailed to Sofia Kokinelis, at the Global Economic Dynamics and the Biosphere, Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. firstname.lastname@example.org
Send your application as ONE file (preferably pdf) and do not send any other documents as these will not be considered at the initial stage.
Send your application as soon as possible as we will be conducting interviews on a regular basis.
