The Erling-Persson Family Academy Programme
Sofia’s research focuses on opportunities and barriers for private governance to improve the sustainability of fisheries globally. By studying the emergent trend of so called Fishery Improvement Projects, she is particularly interested in understanding how value chain strategies for sustainable seafood affect small-scale fisheries. She joined the Global Economic Dynamics and the Biosphere Programme as a research assistant in 2015, before starting her PhD at GEDB as part of a collaboration with the Stockholm Resilience Centre at Stockholm University.
Sofia holds a MSc in Social-Ecological Resilience for Sustainable Development from Stockholm University and a BSc in Environmental Science and Human Ecology from Gothenburg University. Before joining GEDB, Sofia worked with community resilience and disaster risk reduction within the European Commission and the International Organisation for Migration.
