The broad aim of the program is to understand globalization and uncover the drivers and mechanisms behind its effects on social-ecological systems at multiple scales, with an explicit focus on a different aspect of economics.
• Create a platform for interdisciplinary scientific collaboration on the challenges of global change and sustainability, focusing on how local-to-global, cross-scale interactions affect human well-being and the sustainable use of resources and ecosystems.
• Facilitate and promote collaboration between early career economists and scientists from other social sciences and the natural sciences.
• Combine diverse knowledge systems and experiences and research a broad understanding of the preconditions and opportunities for sustainable societal development in the new global context.
• Our vision is to conduct research that integrates social, economic, and ecological perspectives and data to explore scientific frontiers that lie at the nexus between these academic disciplines.
