Webinars: Biodiversity and finance

GEDB executive director Beatrice Crona, and researcher from partners Beijer Institute (Gustav Engström and Johan Gars) and Stockholm Resilience Centre (Sarah Cornell) take part in a series of webinars exploring the links between biodiversity and finance.

Activities

In the first Swesif webinar on Biodiversity and Finance the focus was on ‘Why’ and ‘What’. A thorough introduction on what the science tells us about the importance of biodiversity and its role for the real economy as well as investors and shorter statements to highlight ongoing and emerging initiatives to address the biodiversity issue in the financial sector led to a discussion on the role of the investors, challenges and action to be taken. The seminar took place on line 16 September and a recording is available here.

On September 30, Swesif arranged a second webinar on Biodiversity and Finance, this time with focus on ‘How’. The webinar was kicked off by a set of presentations to show examples of current services aiming to address the biodiversity issue in the financial sector. After these presentations invited experts were asked to comment on these tools, with special focus on challenges in capturing and measuring biodiversity, and the effects of biodiversity loss. The webinar was then rounded off with questions and a discussion. See this webinar here.
